Mount Elbert

Unacclimatized, sleep-deprived, and not even 2 hours after arriving to Frisco did we decide to go up Colorado’s highest peak, Mount Elbert.

Embracing Colorado’s version of the treeline grind

Leaving treeline is a bit quicker, but the views here aren’t as inspiring in my opinion

Flat peaks here in the Sawatch, and many false summits on this one in particular

Hands in the crotch technique saving our fingers falling off from the frigid temps

Sunset on Elbert. Glad we pressed on despite everyone else turning around due to the winds + cold.

Notes

  • This was probably ~9 miles and ~4500 feet of vertical gain in about 4 hours and change.
  • Haram’s first time at 14k and altitude headaches for both of us, but it was not that bad.
