Mount Elbert

Unacclimatized, sleep-deprived, and not even 2 hours after arriving to Frisco did we decide to go up Colorado’s highest peak, Mount Elbert.

elbert-2.jpg Leaving treeline is a bit quicker, but the views here aren’t as inspiring in my opinion

elbert-3.jpg Flat peaks here in the Sawatch, and many false summits on this one in particular

elbert-4.jpg Hands in the crotch technique saving our fingers falling off from the frigid temps

elbert-5.jpg Sunset on Elbert. Glad we pressed on despite everyone else turning around due to the winds + cold.

Notes

  • This was probably ~9 miles and ~4500 feet of vertical gain in about 4 hours and change.
  • Haram’s first time at 14k and altitude headaches for both of us, but it was not that bad.
