White Chuck Mountain, Mount Pugh
Escaping the heat (or heat training?) by getting high on the mountain loop. Sunset at White Chuck Mountain then Mount Pugh before heading home.
White Chuck Mountain
White Chuck Mountain is an easy hike since you can practically drive to the top of it.
Not many of those here in WA!
First view about a mile out of two on trail.
Had no idea this peak had a glacier, well barely
Thorton Lake and the shadow of the mountain I’m standing on converging on Glacier Peak
Golden hour starting now, starting north at Mount Baker
Working clockwise, the Pickets, where I was earlier this month
Eldorado
Dome
Full on light show now
Pugh, Sloan, and Kyes from left to right.
Cool seeing this perspective opposite of when I did Kyes
Rainier faint in the background
Three Fingers
Whitehorse
Mount Pugh
Some more flowers starting up Pugh
Old ski tracks down the north couloir, quite a way to haul skis
Same views as yesterday since this is literally the neighboring peak
Rainier, faint in the middle
Sloan
Love seeing the layers all the way to Stuart
Looking back to where I was yesterday
Eldo
Dome
Three Fingers and Whitehorse, yep it’s all still there
Notes
- White Chuck was probably ~4 miles and ~2200 feet of vertical gain with 4 ½ hours to summit, lounge, and return.
- Pugh was probably ~11 miles and ~5200 feet of vertical gain in 4 ½ hours.
