Mount Daniel

The last ski day of the season - one of the best days I’ve ever had in the mountains.

Early morning reflection on Squaw Lake

Cathedral Peak

Deep Lake

Starting up now - the east peak of Daniel visible

Snow sliding off the rock slabs

Mount Stuart behind

Looking back at the basin we came up

I’ve seen this dog before on South Sister and Adams haha, funny how you can recognize a dog

The vast snow slopes looking at the other Daniel summits

Venus Lake (covered in snow), Spade Lake, Mount Rainier

Bears Breast slabs doesn’t hit the same with snow on them

Looking over at the snow slopes of Hinman. We abandoned the idea of doing the circumnav of Daniel and tagging Hinman to prioritize ski quality.

Pea Soup Lake just starting to melt

Venus Lake

Onto the Lynch Glacier

Second lap on this north facing run, probably the best corn + position combo I’ve skied

Even this last east facing run was superb and surprisingly not overcooked

Jump the glide crack

One last climb up this gulley

Peggy’s Pond

Notes

  • This was probably ~23 miles and ~12000 feet of vertical gain in a little under 14 hours.
